Northend United U13s 1 Comber Rec U13s 3                                                          Saturday 26th March 2011

This was a great game of football to watch, as both sides made every effort to play the ball on the ground. Comber started in a very positive manner forcing the Northend midfield and defence onto the back foot. Their ability to play quick passes and their running off the ball and support for each other, for the neutral was a joy to watch. On a positive note for Northend they regrouped and slowly and surely got to grips with there opponents, by working very hard off the ball and some outstanding defending and covering from all the team.
Comber continued to press and only a combination of poor finishing and good goal keeping kept the score level. Northend when they got the ball into wide areas of the pitch began to put pressure onto Comber, Ciaran Neeson Conor Bannon and Leo Morgan all began to cause problems for the Comber defence. Aaron Reid and Jack Dawson with their quick running in and behind the Comber defence almost led to Northend's first goal only for the final pass to be over played. As the game developed, Comber scored the first goal against the run of play when a long ball played down Northend's right hand side was not cleared, allowing the Comber forward to shoot low pass Yaworski in the Northend goal. This was harsh for Northend who after a shaky start had to grips with their opponents and were more than holding there own. the half time score remained 1-0 to Comber.

The second half resumed with Comber starting on a high tempo. Their very impressive female player, who was without doubt the best player on the pitch, began to pull the strings again in the midfield. From one of her moves she passed and received the ball back to send a defence-splitting pass beyond the Northend defenders . This pass found a midfield player running through who again shot low into the Northend goal,to leave the score 2-0.
Northend made changes to their line up with Yaworski in goals being  pushed forward ,he was replaced by M Macioszek in goals and Ronan Ward coming on to provide additional speed and strength. These changes seem to give Northend a lift and from the energy and running by Yaworski up front, this led to a free kick just outside their penalty area. Leo Morgan steeped forward and scored a wonderful goal with a high curling shot into the keepers top right hand corner. This inspired Northend and they played with a newfound favour. Northend thought the equalizer had come when with an open goal their left-winger fired over the bar. Again, Northend pressed forward and from a corner, Conor Bannon shot on the volley only to see the ball pass by the upright with inches to spare. As it seems to be this team's misfortune, once again their inability to convert chances left them vulnerable to a counter attack. Again, the impressive female playing for Comber secured the point for them with a individual run and finished with a low shot into the net.

Waveney U13s 3  Northend United U13s 1                                                                         Saturday 19th March 2011

Both sides where missing players from their starting eleven and it was Waveney who proved to have greater strength in depth. Both sides attempted to play football, and it was Waveney who settled into their rhythm first.
Their midfield had the better of there Northend's opponents at this stage of the game and only good covering work by Michael Carberry at the heart of the Northend defence keep their quick forwards at bay . As the game developed, Northend played their way more into the game and their two forwards, small in height but full of running, where starting to cause danger in the Waveney defence.
As with previous games between these two sides, it was a long ball knocked forward by Waveney played well into Northend's penalty area where it was finished well with a firm low shot into the net.
Northend from the restart pushed forward and again had chances to score. With a through ball played forward by Ronan Ward, the ever-dangerous Aaron Reid outran the Waveney defence to finish with a well-placed shot into the Waveney net. The game was heading for half time when Waveney scored their second goal, again danger down the Northend left hand side of defence was not dealt with, and this allowed the ball to be played again across the front of the goal, presenting their forward with a simple tap in, leaving the half-time score 2-1 to Waveney.

Northend started the second half trying to secure position of the midfield however Waveney's midfield where to strong and this resulted in Northend trying to play the long ball into the wing back channels. Waveney where always a danger on the break, and the game became disjointed with no one side in control, as both sides played to many long balls looking for a defensive mistake rather than create one.
Near the end of the game Waveney where awarded a free kick near the touchline. From this their player struck a good shot high into Northend's goal, high out of Northend's goal keeper's reach. Both teams played out the remaining final minutes  and Northend could count themselves unlucky not to score a second when Ciaran Neeson turned and fired a shot goal bound, however the Waveney keeper produced a fine save.

Northend United U13s 2 Larne Youth U13s 1                                                                             Saturday 12th March 2011

This was a good game of football played by two teams prepared to play football amid wintry conditions. Northend started the game well with their two front men running great angles of play and linking up with their midfield players at every opportunity.
This was the case for the greater part of the first half, where Northend played neat one touch passing causing concern in the Larne defence every time they attacked, especially down their right hand side. Good play from Connor Bannon, Ciaran Neeson and Aaron Reid saw chances fall to Harry Kilgore, Jack Dawson and Leo Morgan, however Northend just could not score despite several chances.
As the game developed, good defending by the Northend defence marshalled well by their Capt. Michael Carberry denied Larne any clear chances. Northend continued to press and paid the penalty for their missed chances when on a Larne attack the Northend keeper did not deal with a long-range shot. He failed to hold the ball and allowed it to go over his head into the net to give Larne the lead against the run of play.
From the restart, Northend pressed forward and where rewarded for their good play. A good passing movement from midfield ,down the Larne left hand side found Ciaran Neeson who beat two players and fired a firm low shot across the face of the goals .With  the Larne keeper stranded Harry Kilgore found himself a few yards out with a simple tap in to level the game at one each .
Again, with Connor Bannon pulling the strings in midfield another Northend attack that saw great passing between Aaron Reid, and Leo Morgan put Ciaran Neeson through again down the wing. Again, a good delivery of the ball saw a fine half volley from Harry Kilgore to give him and Northend their second goal of the game, leaving the half-time score 2-1 to Northend

A change of players and to their system saw Larne come back into this game. Northend did not start the second half with any conviction and only some timely tackles by Michael Carberry in defence kept Larne at bay. Northend's midfield did not get to grips with their counterparts at all in the second half. The second half saw Larne press forward at every opportunity and their number seven was giving Northend problems by his good use of finding space between the midfield and defence of Northend.
With Larne pushing forward, Northend when they had possession of the ball had opportunities to increase their lead. However, poor final pass selection and two many touch's when on the ball allowed the chances to fade out. Larne continued to press and the Northend defence under pressure some of their own making defended their goal to the final whistle.
This was an important win for this team, as they played a very good game of football in the first half. They must however learn to play and concentrate for the full game. Special mention must be made of the work of the two front men to-day Aaron Reid and Jack Dawson. They caused the Larne defence many problems with their quick passing and running of their markers. These two young lads had a very big game to-day, for their team.
The midfield worked hard in the second half, but must remember their responsibility and not always push forward. That said they performed very well in the first half. The defence is still below the level they set for themselves earlier in the season, however there are signs that they are slowly getting back to a solid unit.
Final word on to-day Gary McAllister was very pleased and full of praise for the lads on their performance as he steeped down to-day as manager. Gary will continue to work with the team as a coach; that is welcome news, as it would be a lost to this team if he left completely.

Waveney U13s 3 Northend United U13s 1                                                             Saturday 5th March 2011

This game did not live up to the previous eight goal thriller in the league, never the less it provided its own twists and turns in a keenly and sometimes over physical game. Northend provided an early intention of not being caught out by the quick forwards of Waveney by playing their defensive line deep in their own half. This provided many comments from the purist's watching the game.
The intent shown by Northend, lead the game to be open in the middle of the park due to the ground conceded by Northend however, their plan worked well with Waveney not able to get behind the Northend defence. Northend when in position did try to play their brand of quick passing football, however it was difficult for their midfield players to get forward in support of their strikers.
As the game developed both sides where finding if difficult to find any rhythm. The frequent fouls being committed by both sides did not help the game to flow. From one hopeful long ball played over the top of the Northend defence the Northend goalkeeper made a bad handling error which allowed the ball to drop at the feet of Waveney forward who just about managed to score, giving Waveney the lead in a game till then they had been unable to penetrate the solid Northend defence.
Northend responded well by pushing Waveney back with good work in the midfield by Connor Bannon and Leo Morgan. Aaron Reid on Northend right wing was always a willing out ball and his runs caused the Waveney defence problems. Prior to halftime Leo Morgan received a nasty blow to the head, however he recovered well to continue and provide a solid presence in Northend's midfield. The half time score remained 1-0 to Waveney

The second half was a repeat of the first with Northend sitting deep and relaying on catching Waveney on the break.  Northend where finding the Waveney keeper in good form. The pressure Northend started to build up in search of an equaliser was coming from their ability to move the ball wide and force corners or free kicks when their wide men ran at the Waveney defence.
From one such move Harry Kilgore made good ground down the left and crossed a firm ball into the front post area, again a poor goal keeping error allowed the ever alert Connor Bannon to pounce and score for Northend to bring the game level.
Krystian Yaworski in the Northend goals was in receipt of a nasty challenge by a Waveney player. This caused play to be held up until he received treatment and was able to recover. With minutes left, a good pass found a Waveney player unmarked on Northend's left and he fired a good strike over the head of the stranded Yaworski in the Northend goal.
From the restart with two or three minutes, left Northend pushed forward and once again where caught out with Waveney scoring a third, leaving the final score 3-1 to Waveney .

Northend United U13s 3 Carnmoney FDC U13s 0                                                 Saturday 26th February 2011

This was a very entertaining game played with two teams looking to bounce back from a defeat in their last game. On a windy but sunny morning, Northend started the better of the two teams, playing good attacking football. Northend's Aaron Reid was finding space and causing the Carnmoney defence problems down the right wing. Carnmoney where proving hard to break down and on the break, they looked dangerous down their left hand side. On two occasions good goal keeping from Krystian Yaworski keep the Carnmoney attackers at bay .
As the game developed Northend's midfield gained the upper hand and with their wingers Aaron Reid and Jack Dawson causing problems, good goal keeping from the Carnmoney leeper, first from Kilgore and then Bannon, kept the score level. A free kick awarded to Northend led to the first goal in the game. Michael Carberry delivered the ball deep into Carnmoneys penalty box where Harry Kilgore who controlled the ball before striking a firm low shot into the net.
This goal gave Northend a lift and they continued to attack looking to increase their lead. Good inter passing between Leo Morgan, Ciaran Neeson and Connor Bannon led to their second goal. Again Harry Kilgore was on hand to receive a pass from the hard working Leo Morgan to finish well to give him and Northend their second goal of the game. Northend's defence at this point seemed to be well in control and Josh King was finding space to move forward with good effect, linking up well with his midfielders. Just before half time Kilgore missed, a chance to score his third after a good ball played through by Ciaran Neeson

The start of the second half saw Northend with the wind now at their back start to dominate the middle of the pitch. From a corner kick the ball was headed back across Carnmoney's goal where Aaron Reid turned and fired a fine shot passed the stranded keeper to increase Northend's lead to 3-0.
Northend at this stage where looking to increase their lead and a fierce free kick from twenty-five yards out, struck by their Captain Michael Carberry, skimmed the crossbar with the goal keeper stranded.
Carnmoney kept playing hard and where rewarded with a well-taken goal scored by their ever willing number nine. The goal came from a mistake by the defence not clearing the ball and when played in the Carnmoney striker finished well to leave the score three one.
Northend continued to press forward and with Carnmoney finding it difficult to get the ball out of their half, quite a few good chances where created and missed by the Northend strikers. Substitutions by both teams saw the final minutes played out. This was a good win for Northend in a season that has been a rollercoaster ride for them. What the manager and coaches will be looking for will be consistency in their performances.

Barn United U13s 7 Northend United U13s 1                                                                             Saturday 19th February 2011

This has to be one of the most disappointing games for this team. From the start, they totally outplayed their opponents in all areas of the game, yet finished the first half loosing 3-0 .With some poor referee decisions going against them, this ruined the game for Northend. Having said that Northend also have to rue the missed chances in the first half, they will have to be sharper with decision making in the final third of the pitch.

Barn United further increased their lead in the second half with two very good goals, one a delightful scissor kick from a corner.
The Northend team played to the final whistle and at last, where rewarded with a well worked move down the right by Aaron Reid and Ciaran Neeson and well finished by Leo Morgan who had a fine game throughout. This was a very disappointing result for Northend as they played the better football through out the game. To Northend's credit, they worked right to the final whistle.

Northend United U13s 3 Waveney U13s 5                                                             Saturday 5th February 2011

Northend U13s hosted Waveney, in a local derby match, at Smithfield on Saturday.
Play started off with Waveney gaining the early possession and had Northend panicking when they had a goal shot just wide and another ruled offside.
Northend came to life when they broke down the right hand side and Ciaran Neeson hit the bar from twenty-five yards out. Northend continued to press but were caught on the breakaway when the ball was lumped forward and a mistake allowed the Waveney striker to get goal side of the defence and broke clear to score past the helpless Krystian Jaworski.
Waveney broke again when Northend over committed and the same striker broke from what looked like an offside position to finish in a similar manner. Waveney went on to add a third goal before half time.

The second half began with Northend pressing but when Waveney broke yet again, Przemyslaw Nowak tripped the striker and the referee had no option but to award a penalty. Krystian Jaworski went the right way but unfortunately it was just out of reach.
Northend sprung into life with the introduction of Phillip Maybin, Sam Bennett and Zack Herbison, and it didn't take long before Ciaran Neeson fired home from long range with a low hard shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Northend were awarded a free kick thirty yards out and Phillip Maybin stepped up to fire a magnificent shot right into the top right corner of the net.
Michael McCauley and Conor McCormick were introduced to the game and Michael McCauley made a fine run down the right hand side and played the ball into Conor Bannon who cut inside to fire home into the bottom left of the net with a fine strike from the corner of the eighteen yard box.
With the score now at 4-3 to Waveney, the Northend fight back looked on but Waveney killed off any chance of an equaliser when they scored a fifth and final goal.
